Sound is one of the fundamental codes of communication. Through vibrations, calls, songs, and rhythmic signals, living creatures engage with their environment and with one another.
The interventions conceived for the twentieth edition of ArtVerona – titled It Sounds Like Another Word – explore this natural acoustic grammar as both metaphor and tool to rethink the relationships between human, non-human, and landscape.
This is an invitation to listen: to move beyond individual boundaries in order to perceive, absorb, and embrace the wonders and mysteries of nature. It calls for an openness to encounter the other, to reconsider our ways of being and acting, and to foster a broader reflection on the need to extend the fundamental rights enjoyed by humans to animals, plants, and all non-human life.
At Palazzo Forti on Sunday, October 12 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the C3 collective – an independent experimental space and lab dedicated to the recovery of sonological practices, acoustic ecology, sound experimentation, and acousmatic interpretation – presents a lineup of five young artists in dialogue with each other. Performing in the acusmonium are AMÆMI and Agua Viva, Giulia Rae, Mira, and Davide Salvan; their work moves between acousmatic aesthetics and live performance, engaging not only the auditory dimension, but also the corporeal, gestural, and visual.
